The future of Hungarian navigation was imegined in many different ways by so many a dreamer at the end of the 1920's decade. The 1929. I. Hungarian law on free shipping meant some solution. With the help of captain Rákos and the Barta brothers and in the wake of the new law several shipping companies, so as the Transoceania Trampshipping Co. with the steamers TÁTRA, TENGER and TISZA, were established with Dutch, German, Italian and British capital investements and started operation under Hungarian flag. In 1933 the s/s TÁTRA had engine failure led to abandoning the ship on the Egean Sea. When crew landed ashore three Hungarian and three Estonian sailors died in crushing waves. It was difficult to clear suspicion of insurance fraud. The above case and deepening economic crisis resulted in winding up the company in 1934.
